Author Illustrator Visit

Author-Illustrator Visit 1Today Dana Sullivan an Author and Illustrator visited our school.  During the morning 4th and 5th grade students enjoyed a Graphic Novel Workshop in the small gym.  It was interesting for students to focus on what type of emotions a character can feel.  Characters in the stories we create will be more real to a reader if they have real emotions in the illustrations that we create.

Dana Sullivan shared that most kids draw regularly until about 5th grade.  Sadly, students draw less or stop drawing entirely during middle school and high school.  Drawing, sketching and illustrating words on a page is an important skill to have.

Great work this morning!  Keep writing and drawing!

A special thanks to Rachel Budzynski for inviting Dana Sullivan to visit our school.
