Caroling at GracePointe

gracepointe-1Our 4th grade students took their vocal talent and Christmas spirit to GracePointe Senior Care Center.  What an exciting afternoon visit.  We had two 5th grade leaders join our class (as they had previous experience visiting GracePointe last school year).  We had a special treat and were able to enjoy the University Schools A Cappella Choir of high school carolers.

These older students were just finishing up as we were arriving.  Anne Martinez has done wonderful work with her students developing an outstanding choir program.  It was really sweet to have the younger students and older students singing together.

gracepointe-3Our 4th grade students are professional and extremely flexible performers.  We shared music in four different locations on the Senior Care Campus.  Students sang the lyrics of classic songs: Rudolph, Jingle Bells, Santa Clause is Coming to Town, Frosty the Snowman, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.  We had a few 4th grade students with speaking parts and want to also acknowledge how professional they were while communicating with their audience.gracepointe-4

Upon returning to school, I asked students what they enjoyed most about the experience, many students shared that it felt good to sing and visit.  It seemed to really benefit all of us.  Our students were especially friendly and kind while giving the handmade cards and ornaments they made to share.gracepointe-5

Thank you to the volunteers who joined us for this experience.  We value teaching our children to care about the world around them.  Overall, it has been a wonderful day and a great reminder to think of others this Christmas.

We hope we are invited to return!
