Our 4th grade students took their vocal talent and Christmas spirit to GracePointe Senior Care Center. Â What an exciting afternoon visit. Â We had two 5th grade leaders join our class (as they had previous experience visiting GracePointe last school year). Â We had a special treat and were able to enjoy the University Schools A Cappella Choir of high school carolers.
These older students were just finishing up as we were arriving. Â Anne Martinez has done wonderful work with her students developing an outstanding choir program. Â It was really sweet to have the younger students and older students singing together.
Our 4th grade students are professional and extremely flexible performers. Â We shared music in four different locations on the Senior Care Campus. Â Students sang the lyrics of classic songs:Â Rudolph, Jingle Bells, Santa Clause is Coming to Town, Frosty the Snowman, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Â We had a few 4th grade students with speaking parts and want to also acknowledge how professional they were while communicating with their audience.
Upon returning to school, I asked students what they enjoyed most about the experience, many students shared that it felt good to sing and visit. Â It seemed to really benefit all of us. Â Our students were especially friendly and kind while giving the handmade cards and ornaments they made to share.
Thank you to the volunteers who joined us for this experience. Â We value teaching our children to care about the world around them. Â Overall, it has been a wonderful day and a great reminder to think of others this Christmas.
We hope we are invited to return!
