Proud of our Reading Champions!

Our week has been especially exciting as many students from our homeroom class placed high enough in order to compete at the District Battle of the Books competition. Our students will participate with over a hundred other 4th grade students from various elementary schools.

We are proud of all of the 4th grade students who made a commitment to read more than ever before.  Each 4th grade student who was on a Battle of the Books team was a dedicated reader.

  • First Place Team – Return of the Book Dogs: Maddie Baker, Makayla Martinez, Emmarie Miles, and Katie Nelson
  • Second Place Team – The Scorepedoes: Medardo Abrego, Connor Bonnell, Brevon Doss, and Owen Wildt

We will continue to encourage and support these fourth grade friends as they “re-read” books, and prepare to compete at “Districts”.  If your child is interested in competing in Battle of the Books during 5th grade, please start looking for “Permission Forms” and opportunities to form teams as early as October 2017.

We want to thank our school librarians who plan and organize our Battle of the Books Competition each year.  Thank you also to the parents who support students with reading both at home and at school.  We had several parents who became “Team Coaches”, who organized team meetings and times to practice memorizing book titles and authors.  Thank you to all of the adults who believe in our students. We appreciate you!

Way to believe in yourselves, read, communicate, and work as a team!
